Paper at Saatchi

Posted on October 3, 2013

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed this exhibition.

It’s a curious mix of works on paper and works made out of paper. The latter was far more interesting. There are some incredibly intricate and beautiful sculptures on display. From tiny and delicate trees constructed out of high street shopping bags, to a huge installation of colourful kite-like models strung together to resemble a flock of starlings.

The works on paper are very mixed, there are some of the usual A-level-esque crude drawings. But one positive side of their inclusion is this survey show does cover practically every use of paper in art. Which is fascinating. From rough sketches to fine architectural drawings, collage and the awesome 3d stuff.

Worth a trip to King’s Road.
